15th October
Global Handwashing Day
The vision of this day was to create a local and global culture of handwashing with soap. Although people around the world wash their hands with water, very few wash their hands with soap at the critical occasions
The agencies leading the Global Handwashing Day efforts were part of the Global PPPHW and include the Water and Sanitation Program (WSP/World Bank), UNICEF, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), USAID through the Hygiene Improvement Project (HIP), Procter and Gamble and Unilever.
Members of the coalition, who include Pump Aid, Oxfam, The World Health Organisation (WHO), eBug and Poop Creative to name a few, all actively raised awareness for the day both together and individually.

Dear Chris and Team
The ‘Give a Sh*t’ (GAS) campaign is trying to tackle the taboo of the toilet. Yes, we want to get people talking about the issue of sanitation and talking about poo!
Sanitation is not an issue that we really like to talk about – let alone expect you to. But it’s an issue we HAVE to talk about because so many people die when we let our embarrassment get in the way. There are 2.5 billion people, to be precise, across the world who are living without a toilet!
The 19th November 2009 is World Toilet Day and we are asking you, the Radio 1 Chris Moyles' show to play our ‘Sh*t Song’ live on air, to ALL your listeners, to really show that it’s Not a Taboo, it’s just Poo!
So, do you Give A Sh*t, Moyles?
